Schofield Barracks Hawaii is the largest US Army installation in Hawaii and home of the 25th Infantry Division — the Tropic Lightning Division that serves as the Army's primary Pacific Rim rapid response force. The installation sits on the central Oahu plateau and hosts Wheeler Army Airfield. Schofield Barracks was attacked during the December 7, 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The installation is a primary target for Chinese military planners given its role in Pacific theater ground combat operations.
