Nashville was struck by a deadly EF3 tornado on March 3 2020 that killed 25 people and caused over $1.5 billion in damage — the costliest tornado in Tennessee history. The twister struck downtown Nashville including the historic Germantown neighborhood just blocks from the Tennessee State Capitol. The 2010 Cumberland River flood was equally devastating, inundating the Opryland Hotel and thousands of homes across the metro.
