Elmendorf Air Force Base Alaska — combined with Fort Richardson into Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson — is the primary military installation in Alaska and headquarters of the Alaskan Command. The base is home to F-22 Raptor stealth fighters, C-17 transport aircraft, and E-3 AWACS surveillance aircraft. JBER sits adjacent to Anchorage and was significantly damaged by the 2018 magnitude 7.1 earthquake. The base serves as the command center for all US military operations in the Alaska theater and the Arctic.
