Pueblo West Colorado is a large unincorporated community west of Pueblo adjacent to the Pueblo Chemical Depot — a former US Army chemical weapons storage site that held mustard agent and is currently undergoing chemical weapons destruction operations. The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant is one of only two US sites destroying the nation's remaining chemical weapons stockpile. Pueblo County experiences wildfire risk during dry summers and the Arkansas River creates localized flooding risk.
