Beaver Pennsylvania is the county seat of Beaver County and sits within the Emergency Planning Zone of Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Plant — a two-unit pressurized water reactor on the Ohio River operated by Energy Harbor. Beaver County also hosts one of the most concentrated petrochemical and steel manufacturing corridors in the United States — the Ohio River from Pittsburgh to the West Virginia border includes massive petrochemical complexes including Shell Chemical's new ethane cracker plant in Monaca, the largest chemical plant built in the US in a generation. A failure at any facility along this corridor could cascade across the entire Ohio River valley.
